Some might call her a star, others might call her a reality TV mess, but Brandi Glanville has undoubtedly made herself known to the media limelight. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member is most widely known as the wife who Eddie Cibrian left for LeAnn Rimes.
The celebrity split has resulted in a family law dispute that seems to never end. And this week includes a new installment to Glanville and Cibrian’s divorce drama. This time, the issue on Glanville’s mind is child support. But is her opinion on the matter ignoring child support priorities?
Glanville revealed via Twitter recently that her ex is requesting that she begin paying child support for their two children. She points to Cibrian’s spending and actions as support for her argument that she shouldn’t have to pay child support, but there is more to the divorce matter than initial emotions.
Cibrian might have cheated on Glanville. That misstep and other personal matters that might upset Glanville are generally unrelated to decisions regarding child support. What the courts need to know, at least in Massachusetts child custody cases, is the income of each parent, how parenting time is divided and how many children the parties have.
If Cibrian is truly asking his reality star ex to pay child support, the response to his request will depend on the financial and parenting facts between the famous (or infamous) parents. It doesn’t matter that Glanville doesn’t like her ex or his request. It doesn’t matter that she is the mother, or a woman. Child support arrangements, whether in Los Angeles or Boston, must serve a child’s best interests.
