After separation hesitation, Eastwoods move forward with divorce

Not even movie stars are immune to the hardships of marriage. An unhappy marriage is an unhappy marriage, whether someone is a stay-at-home mom, accountant, hair stylist or mega movie star and director. Clint Eastwood and his wife Dina are calling it quits after almost 20 years of marriage.

Clint and Dina have one minor child together, so their divorce will inevitably involve the matter of child custody and child support. With Clint’s major successes in the film industry, both as an actor and director of movies, it won’t be surprising for big numbers to be thrown around regarding the financial matters in this celebrity split.

Do the Eastwoods have a prenuptial agreement? Sources have not yet confirmed that point, though some might assume that they would. Clint’s success began decades before he married Dina in 1996, and he might have wanted to have a prenup in place before getting married again.

He had been married once before Dina and also has several children outside of his most recent marriage. Those points mean that Clint could have seen the importance of protecting his fortune in order to save it for his children. In Massachusetts, as well as in other parts of the country, parties who choose to remarry will often cite protecting their children’s inheritance as a reason to pursue a prenuptial agreement.

Massachusetts family law requires that both parties are represented by their own individual attorneys in order for a prenup to be valid. For more details like this and more, parties who are considering marriage and whether they want to create a marital contract should talk with divorce lawyers in their areas.
